April 8, 2024 Meet Chris Freeman: Cordia’s Environmental Manager
Chris Freeman is Cordia’s environmental manager, helping to ensure that Cordia meets its long-term sustainability goals. Freeman has worked in the environmental field for 20 years. He joined Cordia three years ago and continues to do important work in building a sustainable future.
Below is a transcription from an interview conducted as a part of two video series, Cordia Connections and the Sustainability Series, posted on Cordia’s LinkedIn and Instagram between March and April 2024.
Why did you choose to work at Cordia?
I’ve worked in the energy sector my whole career, and I was interested in working for Cordia because we’re actively pursuing renewable power and alternative energy sources while reducing our emissions. I’m really passionate about environmental sustainability, and I was a good fit for the company.
What is your favorite part about working with Cordia?
I like the progressive culture here. We’re trying to find ways to reduce our impact. We’re also a very progressive company, and we’re seeking to diversify our workforce in order to better represent the communities and people we serve.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
The diversity of our workforce. We have a lot of veterans on our staff. We have an excellent balance of men and women on staff and people with many different backgrounds. I think the diversity of our workforce gives us additional strength and new perspectives that we haven’t seen before.
What do you feel is Cordia’s greatest strength?

What do you feel is Cordia’s beliefs surrounding sustainability?
One of our core beliefs is sustainability. We seek to be seen as a trusted partner by the communities we operate in and to become a better corporate citizen. A big part of sustainability is reducing emissions, and that involves efficiency. So, we lower our costs by operating more efficiently and reducing our pollution emissions.
Why is it important for Cordia to become carbon neutral by 2050?
I think that we, along with our corporate board, recognize that achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050 is essential for the future of the planet and humankind, so it’s incumbent on us to do our part to achieve zero emissions.
